Stripe Connect Integration & Marketplace Payouts
Stripe Connect is how marketplaces and multi-party platforms onboard sellers, split payments, and pay out to third parties — and it's easy to get subtly, expensively wrong. I build production Stripe Connect integrations: Express/Custom onboarding, destination and separate charges, split payouts, refunds, and the webhook-driven reconciliation that keeps your ledger and Stripe in agreement. I shipped this for Dryva, a live courier and ride-hailing marketplace.
What Stripe Connect solves
If your platform takes money from one party and pays another — a marketplace, a booking platform, an on-demand service, a multi-vendor store — you need Stripe Connect. It handles seller onboarding and identity verification, moves money between parties, takes your platform fee, and manages payouts and compliance. The API is powerful but the design decisions are consequential, and mistakes surface as reconciliation nightmares and stuck payouts months later.
What I build
- Connected-account onboarding — Express or Custom flows with identity verification and the right capabilities enabled per account.
- Charge architecture — destination charges, separate charges and transfers, or direct charges, chosen for your fee model and liability needs.
- Split payouts & platform fees — application fees and transfers that add up to the cent, with payout scheduling.
- Webhook-driven reconciliation — Stripe as the source of truth for money, your database kept in sync idempotently.
- Refunds, disputes & edge cases — partial refunds, reversed transfers, failed payouts, and account restrictions handled deliberately.
Why get a specialist
Connect touches money, identity, and compliance at once. The failure modes are quiet: a webhook you didn't handle, a non-idempotent handler that double-transfers, a charge type that puts liability in the wrong place. Getting it right the first time is far cheaper than unwinding a payout mess in production. This is exactly the kind of work I production-harden.
Stripe is the system of record for money. Your database is the system of record for state. Webhooks keep them in sync. Get that boundary right and Connect becomes reliable instead of scary.
